State law, education code and other regulations are constantly changing. WVSSPA monitors these changes. Our leaders and state legal staff have the knowledge to protect your rights during RIF and transfers, job hiring decisions and other situations.
WVSSPA works hard at the state capitol to share our members' concerns with legislators. No other organization does more to raise and address the issues of service personnel in Charleston than we do.

WVSSPA worked extremely hard in getting many parts of this bill that affected service personnel beat back. It is not a perfect bill by any means but through efforts with AFT-WV, we were able to ensure that many parts of this bill will not be detrimental to our members and at the same time be good for students.
It is evident by the Governor’s remarks in the Gazette article that this is just the beginning. WVSSPA has started to develop a plan that will ensure that we fight these battles to the fullest extent. The next 5-10 years will be a critical time at the Capitol and for our members.
