David Thompson, WVSSPA State President, lives in Genoa, WV, a small community about 20 miles south of Huntington, with his wife of 33 years, Melissa. They have one daughter, Kyndall, who is the light of their life. He has worked for the Wayne County Board of Education as a bus driver for 15 years, has been a member of the WVSSPA for 14 years, and has served as Wayne County Service Personnel President for 5 years.

Before working for the Wayne County Board of Education, he worked at ACF Industries in Huntington, WV, where he was a member of the Steel Workers Union Local 1652. He served on their negotiating committee and served as their financial secretary, and he was also a member of the Carpenters Union Local 302.

Among all his accomplishments, he feels that serving as the WVSSPA President is the most rewarding. He makes it his goal to help as many service personnel in his county and state as whatever comes his way. David Thompson is a very strong union leader and will always fight for your rights!
